A cast iron counterweight maintains tension, while the 4 m cable gives the composition its distinctive vertical rhythm. Offered in Red, White, Black and Nickel, the design can act as a graphic accent or a quieter metallic presence. Its direct light makes it especially effective beside seating, near artwork or within gallery-inspired interiors where illumination must remain flexible without occupying valuable floor space.

Architectural freedom within Flos Floor lighting

As part of the Flos Floor Lighting collection, the Parentesi lamp offers an unconventional interpretation of freestanding illumination by using the relationship between ceiling and floor as the supporting structure. The lamp body moves vertically along the tensioned cable, allowing the beam height to be adjusted as furniture, activities or display needs change. This makes the Parentesi adjustable floor-to-ceiling light particularly suited to reading corners, open-plan living areas, hospitality lounges and creative workspaces where lighting must respond to different uses over time. The direct beam introduces focused illumination while the minimal construction preserves open sightlines, giving architects and interior designers a highly adaptable tool for interiors that value both precision and visual restraint.

Flos Parentesi: engineering transformed into visual identity

The Parentesi floor-to-ceiling lamp reflects the experimental clarity associated with Flos, allowing every functional component to remain visible and contribute to the overall composition. Steel elements, painted or nickel-plated finishes and the cast iron counterweight give the design a distinctly mechanical character, yet the result feels balanced rather than technical. A dimmer integrated into the power cable provides intuitive control over brightness, supporting focused illumination as well as softer evening use. The structure can also accommodate an additional light source, expanding the possibilities for personalised arrangements. This combination of mobility, exposed mechanics and controlled light gives Parentesi a lasting architectural presence in both residential and contract interiors.

A vertical lighting language alongside Flos Ceiling lights

Placed in dialogue with Flos Ceiling Lights, Parentesi can contribute to layered schemes in which overhead illumination and adjustable direct light perform complementary roles. Its tension-cable construction creates a vertical axis that can define a reading area, highlight a selected object or bring structure to an otherwise open corner without introducing a bulky floor-standing footprint. The Parentesi vertical cable lamp works naturally with stone, timber, concrete, metal and upholstered surfaces, while the four finish options allow the fixture to either merge with the palette or introduce a stronger visual accent.
