Marcello Ziliani

Marcello Ziliani: Innovator in Home Design

Architecture becomes part of everyday life through the work of Marcello Ziliani, an Italian designer born in Brescia in 1963. A 1988 architecture graduate of the Politecnico di Milano, he developed his thesis under Achille Castiglioni. His approach brings together observation, technical understanding and attention to people, creating a dialogue between visual character and practical purpose. From furniture to household objects, his designs explore how considered proportions and materials can enrich familiar spaces.

Collaborations across Italian and International Design

Projects for KnIndustrie, Scab and Pinti 1929 connect his work to dining, seating and tableware, while collaborations with Bossini, Ethimo and Roche Bobois extend it into bathrooms and furniture. His multidisciplinary experience also embraces lighting, art direction and exhibition design. Across these contexts, attention to production and usability connects each project to the way it will be made and used.

Distinctive Objects for Contemporary Living

The Ypsilon cake stand combines a Y-shaped, stone-washed steel support with a two-tone stoneware plate, bringing a sculptural accent to cakes, desserts and appetisers. This KnIndustrie design shows how buffet accessories can enrich a table setting. The Pinti 1929 Audrey Velvet 18/10 stainless steel cutlery set extends this attention to the art of dining, adding an elegant finishing touch to everyday meals and special occasions. Together, these creations offer complementary ways to bring personality to the table. The Scab Lisa 2851 upholstered armchair draws on 1950s and 1960s interiors, with a slender tubular steel structure supporting its upholstered seat and backrest. Its wider family includes upholstered and wood-seat versions, offering different expressions of designer chairs.
